US on-highway diesel - EIA survey week of August 31, 2026

The US on-highway diesel national average is $5.60 per gallon, a 153-cent premium over regular gasoline at $4.07. EIA's weekly On-Highway Diesel Fuel Price survey releases Monday afternoon ET. [EIA · 31 Aug 2026] Its diesel coverage is narrower than its gasoline coverage: the agency prices the United States, the five PADDs, three PADD 1 sub-districts, West Coast less California, and California. No other state has a diesel series, so every other state on this site carries its district figure and is labelled as such. Diesel sits above regular almost every week of the year because of ULSD specification cost, year-round trucking demand, and winter heating-oil correlation in the Northeast.
